Redevelopment Enables Reuse of Downtown Site

Hartford’s 150 Windsor Street building, formerly the site of an office building and data center used by Bank of America, has been slated for demolition in preparation of site redevelopment. Our Environmental group was engaged by the City of Hartford to provide extensive Hazardous Building Materials Assessments (HBMAs) and Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) around and within the 254,000-sf pre-cast concrete structure. Several hazardous building materials and site environmental hazards were identified and addressed in abatement, demolition, and remediation design documents and technical specifications.

Our services supported redevelopment planning by addressing hazardous building materials, PCB-impacted soils, asbestos and PCB-containing materials, and underground storage tank closure activities. The project includes preparation of cleanup plans, confirmatory soil sampling, demolition monitoring, air monitoring, waste management documentation, and coordination with applicable environmental and public health agencies. This work supports the City’s plans to transform an underutilized property into a mixed-use development that aligns with its broader redevelopment vision for the Downtown North neighborhood.
