Reconstructing HSIP Locations to Improve Safety
Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) engaged the services of Tighe & Bond for this important safety improvement project in Lynn, MA. The scope of work for this project includes preparing contract documents for reconstruction of the Broadway at Euclid Avenue and Broadway at Jenness Street intersections. These locations were identified by MassDOT as Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) locations. Recommendations made in the Roadway Safety Audit completed by Tighe & Bond in September 2018 are being incorporated into the design of safety improvements throughout the project. The project is intended to provide safety and operational improvements at two high-crash clusters locations. The Broadway at Euclid Avenue intersection is among the top 200 high crash locations in Massachusetts and the Jenness Street intersection is characterized as an HSIP location.
Services Snapshot
The project will generally include safety improvements including the replacement of outdated and non-compliant traffic signal equipment reconstruction of sidewalks, crosswalks, and handicap ramps, the addition of bicycle facilities, and improvements to transit stops including Transit Signal Priority and roadway rehabilitation.
