Rhodes Center for the Arts

The Rhodes Center for the Arts at the Northfield Mount Hermon School is a new $29 million, 63,000 square foot, three level center for the arts that includes spaces for music, dance, theater, and visual arts. Situated at the heart of the campus of this private residential secondary school, this center was completed in 2008.

Services Provided by Tighe & Bond

Tighe & Bond was retained by the Northfield Mount Hermon School to provide technical review and construction services for the replacement and expansion of the steam distribution network for heating and domestic hot water as well as the medium voltage electrical distribution network. The on-campus power generating facility is located directly adjacent to the site of the new Rhodes Center for the Arts, so the existing infrastructure had to be modified in order to incorporate this new center into the existing network. The scope of work included a review of the design and construction documents, construction oversight in order to ensure consistency with construction documents, and recommendation of changes or alterations to the design due to field conditions.

We also worked with the school to evaluate the drinking water supply system and determine what improvements are necessary to accommodate proposed campus master planning upgrades. Our scientists located potential groundwater supply wells and completed testing of the wells in conformance with MADEP permitting of a public water supply. We assisted in obtaining permits and designed the new facilities.
