School Redesign Prepares and Empowers Students with Future Career and Technical Proficiency
Faced with a growing student population and an aging school building, the Dover High School & Regional Career Technical Center engaged HMFH Architects and Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio for the design of a new building and site/landscape improvements as a part of the district’s larger campus. The project required an intricate phasing plan to minimize interruption to student learning throughout construction.
Halvorson designed a site program that accommodates steep grade changes and features parking for 440, improved vehicle circulation, and athletic fields for softball, soccer, and tennis. An open air courtyard, accessible from both the ground and second floor levels, provides an outdoor learning environment and amphitheater for students. The site also features a new barn, which will serve the vocational school’s Animal Science program.
