Connecting Residential Amenities with a Resilient Landscape

Built on a former industrial site near Rosie’s Pond, LORE Apartments combines residential outdoor amenities with floodplain considerations. Our landscape architects at Halvorson collaborated with project partners on gathering spaces, grilling areas, pool amenities, and a shared-use roadway with overhead lighting. A wood boardwalk overlooking a wetland replication area received design support from the firm’s structural team.

The landscape integrates recreation and compensatory flood storage through an amphitheater and meandering pocket park, complemented by underground stormwater retention chambers beneath roadways and parking areas.

Connections to the Salem Bike Path and Marblehead Rail Trail link residents to downtown and commuter rail, while the outdoor spaces offer opportunities to gather, relax, and engage with the surrounding landscape.
