Welcoming New Hires in Our Water Business Line

Tighe & Bond is pleased to welcome four new staff members to our Water Business Line in three different offices. Each of our new employees brings years of specialized expertise and leadership to our firm.

Brian Nereson, PE

Principal Engineer
Portsmouth, NH

Brian Nereson joins Tighe & Bond as a Principal Engineer in the Water Business Line and will be working as part of the geotechnical group. He has close to 20 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including 15 years of geotechnical consulting and 2 years as a ground improvement designer. Brian received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and is a member of both the national and New Hampshire divisions for the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in each of the New England states. Brian’s professional experience includes design and construction oversight of shallow foundations, deep foundations, ground improvement, retaining walls, and reinforced slopes.

Prashanth Emmanuel, PE

Senior Project Manager
Shelton, CT

For close to two decades, Prashanth Emmanuel has worked on projects in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. He specializes in the planning, evaluation, design, and construction management of wastewater projects. His wastewater experience includes facilities planning, design and construction management of pump stations, odor control systems & wastewater treatment facilities, and inflow/infiltration studies. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in India he obtained a master’s degree in environmental engineering at the University of New Haven. Outside of his work, he is an active member of the Water Environment Federation.

Christopher Grillo, PE

Senior Project Manager
Providence, RI

Christopher Grillo is a Senior Project Manager in the Water Business Line with 15 years of experience in the consulting industry, providing planning, design, and construction administration services for municipal and private clients focused on drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities. His experience includes completing projects in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and specializes in the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities. His project experience also includes planning and oversight of pilot studies; permitting; bidding assistance; equipment startup and testing; operations assistance; and regulatory compliance for a variety of drinking water and wastewater facilities projects. Chris also has experience with the analysis and design of pumping stations, hydraulic systems, drinking water infrastructure, and wastewater collection systems. He is involved in several industry organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), New England Water Works (NEWWA), and New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA).

Paul Smith, PE

Senior Project Manager
Providence, RI

In his 20-year career, Paul Smith has made significant contributions to environmental engineering projects including the design of water transmission mains and distribution systems, wastewater interceptors and collection systems, sewer separation design, water and sewer projects requiring trenchless technology, environmental permitting, and construction administration. He will serve as a Senior Project Manager in Tighe & Bond’s Water and Wastewater Business Line. He has a specialty certification in the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Grant Program where state funds are allocated to municipalities to plan for climate change resiliency and implement priority projects. Paul is affiliated with the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA) and American Water Works Association (AWWA).
