2026 NEWEA Annual Conference

Our water and wastewater team participated in several presentations at the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) Annual Conference from January 25 to 28 in Boston.
On Monday, Prashanth Emmanuel kick offed the first of our speaking sessions to discuss our work on improving facility resiliency in Stratford, Connecticut. Rachel Tenney and Michael Trovato joined the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) to discuss a recent report on PFAS testing at publicly owned wastewater facilities across Massachusetts. Todd Brown co-presented, with MassDEP and Brown & Caldwell, a recent report on the future of wastewater sludge management in Massachusetts.
Tuesday’s sessions featured a presentation by Jess DeJesus and Richard Widman about an underground sewer pipeline case study from Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Dan Roop, Elizabeth Hanna, and Trent Guihan joined Upper Blackstone Clean Water to highlight a case study on leveraging digital solutions for asset management. Prashanth Emmanuel served as a session moderator.
Vice President Adam Yanulis was named one of the 2026 recipients of NEWEA’s Alfred E. Peloquin Award and was recognized at the Awards Ceremony & Luncheon. The Alfred E. Peloquin Award celebrates individuals who have personally contributed to excellence in wastewater operations in New England. Throughout his three-decade career in public sector engineering, Adam has served as an active member of industry and trade organizations to promote the engineering profession. He currently serves as a board member for the New England Chapter of the American Public Works Association, as a Massachusetts commissioner for the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission, and as a member of the Massachusetts Water Infrastructure Advisory Commission.
