Deerfield Dining Hall Wins ENR Excellence in Sustainability Award
As part of Engineering News-Record (ENR) New England’s 2026 Best Projects awards, Deerfield Academy’s renovated and expanded dining hall has received a Sustainability Award of Merit. Our team worked with Deerfield Academy, ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge, and other project partners to support the renovation, adding modern sustainability features while maintaining the character of the historic building.
Sustainable design features include a state-of-the-art food composting system, as well as a new 100 kW solar array on the south side of the site. The solar array serves as a source of renewable energy while also stabilizing an existing slope.
Tighe & Bond’s scope included site/civil engineering and Conservation Commission permitting services, which included site drainage, stormwater management, water service, fire protection, sanitary sewer, erosion and sediment controls, roadway improvements, and utility coordination.
