James Russell, PE

Vice President

“Tighe & Bond provides an environment that facilitates communication, collaboration, and consideration, all of which are paramount to successfully executing projects for our clients.”

Jim is a Vice President and Land Use Technical Director, with over three decades of experience. He began his career with the largest engineering firm in the world, gaining valuable experience performing work across the mid-west. Following this, he returned to his home state of Rhode Island and continued to develop his skills at a regional civil engineering firm, and worked on some of the most definitive projects in the state’s history.

His expertise includes deep and shallow foundations; retaining walls; temporary sheeting and shoring; dewatering; marine/waterfront improvements; ground improvement; earth, masonry, and concrete dams; and conducting geotechnical investigations and preparing geotechnical data/design study reports for heavy civil, industrial, and major transportation-related projects.

Jim is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island (B.S.) and obtained his M.S. from Purdue University.

Life Outside of Work

Outside of work, Jim enjoys gardening, landscaping, biking, and hiking, which he does often with his wife and two children. He also likes to consider himself a pretty good craftsman, but many of his friends see room for improvement.
