A Rooftop Amenity Deck Designed for the Rhythm of the Work Day
Our landscape architects collaborated with Margulies Perruzzi Architects to reimagine our client’s rooftop amenity deck at their Massachusetts office, creating a welcoming and versatile urban respite designed for gathering, entertaining, and everyday use.
Guided by the design team’s “Oasis in the Sky” concept, the garden-like terrace combines native plantings and flowering trees that offer an opportunity to pause and connect with nature with flexible gathering areas that support collaboration and social interaction. Custom seating niches provide smaller areas for conversation and retreat, complemented by a pergola-shaded lounge. Anchoring the space is a canopy with a green roof, integrated downlights, and overhead heaters that shelters the bar area from sun and weather, extending the usability of the space across seasons and times of day.
Thoughtful material selections and native greenery support the design’s sustainability goals. Together, these elements create an elevated amenity space that responds to the rhythm of the workplace while strengthening connections between people, architecture, and the surrounding city.
