Employee-Owners Volunteer Together in Our Communities

This year, our teams have spent time together outside the office supporting organizations and programs in the communities where we work. Tighe & Bond supports this commitment through our volunteer time off (VTO) policy, which gives employee-owners time away from work to serve their communities. These team days are one way our staff put that time to use, working alongside the people who care for local food systems, natural resources, community spaces, STEM education, and families in need.

Colleagues from our Worcester office volunteered with Community Harvest Project, tending fields in preparation for the harvest. The nonprofit grows fresh produce for hunger relief across Massachusetts, and volunteers help care for the crops throughout the growing season.

On Cape Cod, members of our Land Use Business Line joined the Town of Wellfleet Shellfish Department for a day on the water. Our team collected juvenile oysters from the Town’s intertidal farm and spread them in Wellfleet Harbor. They also helped place oyster seed and juvenile oysters in bags and racks, where they can grow to a size better able to withstand predators before being planted in public harvest areas. The volunteer day gave our staff a closer look at the work behind Wellfleet’s shellfish program. Tighe & Bond is also working with the department to update permits for the Town’s century-old cultching program, which supports its commercial and recreational oyster fishery and benefits the harbor environment.

To celebrate Earth Day, colleagues from our Shelton office participated in the City of Shelton’s Clean Sweep program. Our team picked up trash and cleaned up community spaces, joining a local effort to care for the places where people live and work.

Our staff also supported the annual North Quincy High School STEM Fair, serving as competition judges as students in grades 9–12 presented independent research projects. Their participation advanced our STEM Outreach Committee’s mission to engage students and encourage long-term interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

A spring diaper drive collected more than 2,500 diapers for the Holyoke Diaper Bank, providing diapers for more than 125 children. Employee-owner donations supported the nonprofit’s work to meet an everyday need for local families.

Our Will Bike 4 Food team rode to support the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and residents experiencing food insecurity. With riders participating both in person and virtually, the team raised nearly $4,700 and counting, equivalent to approximately 14,000 meals. Tighe & Bond also supported the event as a corporate sponsor.

Our Make a Difference program brings together our staff to contribute their time and talents to local organizations. We thank everyone across the firm who has volunteered this year—and the community organizations that welcome them.
