Regional Spotlight: Our Work in New York

Our team in New York, based out of our Rhinebeck and Troy offices, have had several recent success stories to share:

  • In March, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of opening our second New York office in downtown Troy. It’s been an exciting year working with our clients on projects in the Capital Region.
  • We embarked on a new culvert assessment project with Albany County. Our team is preparing a county-wide inventory of culverts, including a cursory assessment of culvert conditions, as well as a plan for prioritizing culvert repairs and replacements. The data will be integrated with the County’s ArcGIS Online infrastructure database to facilitate future planning and maintenance efforts.

  • Last month, our team celebrated receiving ACEC New York’s Platinum Award in Engineering Excellence for the design of upgrades to the City of Kingston’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The improvements included a customized aeration system to decrease levels of ammonia in treated wastewater, as well as upgrades to the outfall.
  • Senior Project Manager Candice Constantine joined us in the Troy office, where she will lend her expertise to a variety of projects which include ecological restoration, climate resilience, dam removal and fish passage, and sustainable water resources management.
  • Led by Vice President Brandee Nelson, our team assisted several municipal partners with identifying critical grant programs to help fund priority projects to improve water and wastewater, stormwater, land use and zoning, and transportation infrastructure at the municipal level.
  • Our team was engaged by the Dutchess County Water Works Authority (DCWWA) to design improvements to DCWWA’s Hyde Park regional water treatment facility. The upgrades aim to increase plant capacity to a minimum of 3 MGD, while also improving the filtration process and backwash/residuals handling.
