Public Hearing for Southampton Safe Routes to School
We recently joined residents and officials from the Town of Southampton and MassDOT at a 25% design public hearing to present our design for the William E. Norris Safe Routes to School (SRTS) project and invite community feedback. Our design addresses traffic safety and pedestrian access along roughly half a mile of Pomeroy Meadow Road near the school.
Planned improvements include reconstructing the existing sidewalk with a shared-use ADA compliant path, adding two crosswalks with accessible ramps and rectangular rapid-flashing beacons, an additional sidewalk on the west side of the road, and creating a mid-block crossing and student pick-up queue lane.
As the project advances toward 75% design, we’re moving closer to improved pedestrian connectivity for students, families, and other road users.
