The inaugural 2026 Report Card for Massachusetts’ Infrastructure has officially been released, providing an important benchmark of the current state and future needs of the infrastructure Massachusetts communities rely on every day. 

Developed by the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES) of ASCE, the report assessed seven key sectors, including Roads, Bridges, Transit, Dams, Stormwater, Drinking Water, and Wastewater. Each category was evaluated using a rigorous set of criteria, including Condition, Capacity, Operations and Maintenance, Innovation, Resilience, Public Safety, Funding, and Future Needs, providing a data-driven look to inform infrastructure investment and improvement priorities across the Commonwealth. 

Liz Clark and Samantha Nyser joined national and state leaders at the Massachusetts State House to celebrate the report’s release. They were part of a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, academics, and industry professionals who volunteered their time and expertise to develop this important resource. Liz served as an author for the Stormwater chapter, while Sam contributed as an author for the Drinking Water and Wastewater chapters. 

Event speakers included: Carol Ellinger Haddock, ASCE President; Richard Matson, BSCES President; Patrick Tierney, BSCES Chair of the Government Affairs & Professional Practice Committee; and Mike Cunningham, BSCES Past President.
