Emily Scerbo Receives BSCES Citizen Engineer Award
Congratulations to Emily Scerbo on being recognized with a Citizen Engineer Award by the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES) for her contributions to resilient stormwater planning, environmental protection, public service, and the engineering profession.
A Vice President with more than 20 years of experience in water resources planning and stormwater management, Emily has helped municipalities across Massachusetts to navigate complex regulatory requirements, protect water resources, and build more resilient infrastructure to combat severe storm events and meet community needs.
Emily has developed a reputation as a recognized leader, where she has played a key role in advancing stormwater management practices throughout New England. She has supported statewide initiatives to promote sustainable stormwater funding, led the development of municipal model stormwater bylaws and regulations, and continues to help communities implement proactive asset management strategies for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
She has been instrumental in growing our firm’s stormwater practice through serving as the Technical Director overseeing staff and project work and through leadership roles within our Stormwater and Utility Management Communities of Practice (CoPs). Emily is an active member of the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA)’s Stormwater and DE&I committees and frequently shares her expertise as a presenter at regional and national conferences. Since joining the Massachusetts Rivers Alliance Board of Directors in 2017, she has helped advance statewide water policy and advocacy efforts. As Board President, Emily has led the organization through the critical year-long search, hiring, and leadership transition to a new Executive Director following the retirement of the founding Executive Director, helping position Mass Rivers for continued impact and mission success.
Within Tighe & Bond, Emily is a dedicated mentor and champion for inclusion, serving as chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and founder of our Supporting Women Employee Resource Group (ERG). Her longstanding volunteer service as a youth softball coach and on the board of directors for her hometown’s softball program further reflects her commitment to making a difference.
