Congratulations to Alan Wells, who received the John Lechner Award of Excellence from the Connecticut Section of AWWA recognizing his decades of leadership and contributions.

A long-time CTAWWA member with more than 35 years of experience in the water industry, Alan has supported the Section through committee participation, conference programming, fundraising, and mentorship. He recently served as Chair of the Associates Committee, where he developed programming and encouraged participation in the Section among vendors, consultants, contractors, and manufacturers. In this role, he led fundraising and volunteer efforts which included the Associates Committee Scholarship program, as well as helped to secure Section Enhancers and supported the Young Professionals Committee, the Philanthropic Committee, and the Annual Conference and other CTAWWA events. Alan also supports Section events by identifying meaningful guest speakers, delivering open remarks, and serving as a presenter himself. Through this involvement, he regularly engages with CTAWWA members and this reflects his belief, highlighted in his Summer 2025 In-Flow Magazine Member Spotlight, that the water industry is built on relationships and a shared commitment to helping others.

At Tighe & Bond, Alan is a Project Manager in our Middletown office, where he leads complex water infrastructure projects for municipalities and water providers across the state. His work has included treatment facilities, storage and pumping systems, and interconnections, which support safe, reliable drinking water and strengthen system capacity and resilience for communities across the state. He also serves as a Team Leader, overseeing water professionals and supporting staff development through technical guidance and mentorship.

Outside of his professional work, Alan and his wife volunteer as a host family for United States Coast Guard Academy cadets, which further reflects his commitment to giving back.
