Our Housing Work in New Hampshire
With a growing need for housing across the Northeast, especially in coastal communities, our multi-disciplinary team of engineers, planners, landscape architects, and scientists are working with municipalities and developers to design and plan vibrant, innovative housing developments. Our team is supporting the development of several multi-family projects in the Seacoast Region of New Hampshire intended to meet the demand for new housing while incorporating thoughtful community amenity spaces and commercial opportunities for businesses.
Durgin Lane (Portsmouth, NH)
The City of Portsmouth recently approved a new, 360-unit apartment development that aims to provide high quality housing to a variety of income ranges and meaningful community spaces.
This project will demolish vacant commercial buildings to accommodate 360 rental housing units, offering a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units spread between 17 three- and four-story buildings. Site plans feature over 2 acres of community space that includes a dog park, a central park area, pocket parks, and a raised viewing platform, adjacent to a rain garden that helps with stormwater infiltration.
We are working with the developer, Eastern Real Estate, to provide site/civil design and permitting, traffic engineering, and construction administration services
Cochecho Waterfront Development (Dover, NH)
Construction has started on the Cochecho Waterfront Development in Dover to bring new housing and public amenities to the city’s Waterfront District on the Cochecho River.
This development will include a mixed-use, multi-family property that will feature an active, livable community with urban open spaces and planned connections with future park and recreational improvements proposed by the City for the riverfront. The site plan features three mixed-use buildings, two multi-family structures, and three clusters of townhouses that will include 416 residential units and 26,000 SF of commercial retail ground floor space.
We are serving on the project team working with Cathartes and the City to provide site design and permitting, environmental, and construction phase services.
Liberty Lane Development (Hampton, NH)
A new multi-family residential project that is expected to provide 252 rental apartments recently received conditional site plan approval from the Town of Hampton earlier this year.
Our team is providing site/civil design, landscape architecture, and traffic impact assessment services, working with Tidemark and The Kane Company. Our site/civil scope includes site planning, stormwater management, utility design, and permitting, while our landscape architects are designing outdoor amenity spaces including pool and patio areas, a dog park, and a nature-themed play area. Additionally, our engineers have completed a traffic impact assessment of adjacent roadways and coordinated the review process with NHDOT.
80 Constitution (Portsmouth, NH)
Construction is underway for a 95-unit condominium project in Portsmouth, which will redevelop an existing cinema at Portsmouth Green into a four-story development featuring a mix of one- and two-bedroom units. Additional amenities for residents will include an open-air parking garage, lounge, fitness center, entertainment space, outdoor pickleball courts, community space, and a second-level outdoor terrace. The project will provide additional housing stock for the City, including designating 20% of the units as workforce housing units.
We are providing site design, permitting, and construction phase services for the development, working with Torrington Properties, Inc.
Through helping our clients to plan, design, and construct impactful mixed-use and multi-family housing projects, our team helps to foster healthy and vibrant communities while meeting the need for housing options in high-demand areas. Additionally, these projects promote economic growth and revitalization and enhance quality of life by incorporating green spaces and amenities in the design, as well as connections to future recreational and community facilities.
