Darline is focusing on drinking water projects while working out of our Portsmouth, New Hampshire office for Tighe & Bond’s Water Business Line. She works closely with her colleagues designing water distribution systems and new water treatment plants that remove PFAS. Darline has also conducted studies for clients including one that determined options for ozone and UV disinfection in water treatment facilities.
In 2020, she was awarded the 2nd Place Master’s Academic Achievement Award from the American Water Works Association (AWWA). This award recognizes a person’s contributions to the field of public water supply through either a master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation. Darline conducted research while pursuing her master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire (UNH). She researched how to improve the treatment performance of slow-rate biological filtration (biofiltration) and how this form of water filtration could then be used to help undeveloped or isolated communities. She even used DNA Analysis in her research to dig deeper into how microorganisms in the biofiltration process remove contaminants from water.
Life Outside of Work
Darline can always be found doing many outdoor activities including gardening. She also loves cooking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to new places.
