Cynthia Smith is a design and management leader for many award-winning landscape architecture and planning projects. For more than 30 years, her career has focused on the design of public realm spaces, including urban and waterfront parks and plazas, brownfield sites, streetscapes, cemeteries, and academic campus landscapes.
An active member of the design community, Cynthia serves on several boards, including the Board of Directors for the Hubbard Educational Trust, the Board of Overseers for Boston Architectural College; and the City of Cambridge Committee on Public Planting. She served on the Cambridge Public Arts Commission, the BAC Board of Trustees, and as President of the Boston Society of Landscape Architects. Cynthia was elected to the prestigious Council of Fellows by the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2012.
Life Outside of Work
Cynthia loves dogs and can be found walking and hiking throughout New England with her husband Steve and Labrador retriever; She also enjoys photography, lake and river kayaking, cross-country travel and gardening. An avid soccer player, she is on a senior women’s soccer team that competes locally and nationally. She enjoys a fierce tennis match, bicycling, and hanging out with her bi-coastal family.
