Paving the Way for Roadway Safety

This state of the art treatment facility is owned and operated by the Yale-New Haven Health network. In support of the new facility, we developed a comprehensive traffic study and traffic operations model in conjunction with roadway improvement designs. The roadway improvements addressed existing operational, geometric, and safety deficiencies, as well as accommodated the increased traffic from the new development. The modern roundabout and upgraded signalized intersections provide the capacity to support growth along Park Avenue at the Merritt Parkway ramps (Exit 47) for future development along Park Avenue in Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Fairfield, Connecticut.

A Connecticut First

This project included the first modern roundabout on a terminus of a limited access ramp in the State of Connecticut. The use of modern roundabouts in Connecticut, and the country at large, has become more prevalent as a method of intersection control to mitigate congestion, improve intersection safety, and provide a more sustainable approach to intersection control.
